In the interest of maintaining a distraction-free environment on school days, we do not entertain one-on-one visits for exploring the school for admissions. Prospective parents are requested to follow the two-step process requested below. Please avoid phone calls regarding admissions. Please EMAIL us to explore admissions. Kindly ensure that you read ALL the information on our website thoroughly to gauge if Steiner education could be the path for you as parents.
Understanding Steiner education philosophy at a reasonable level to determine if it resonates with you is the first step in our Enrolment exploration process for parents. The Art of Parenting & Teaching Workshop is conducted at our sister kindergarten, Kingdom of Childhood, in JP Nagar on a frequent basis. It is essential that BOTH parents attend the workshop, either together or on different dates, before signing up for the second step, the Open Day. For a successful parent-school partnership in the years to come, it is important that parents connect with Steiner’s education philosophy and have the enthusiasm and commitment to transform their own aspirations, lifestyle and parenting to support the journey of the child at the school. The Art of Parenting workshop will hopefully be of use and relevance even to parents who after attending it, decide not to pursue enrolment at our school for any reason.
AFTER each parent has attended the workshop, please sign up to attend an Open Day at Bangalore Steiner School. The Open Day at the school offers a glimpse into how the Steiner-Waldorf curriculum is delivered in the classroom by teachers, display of classroom work, a school tour and an overview of the history, management and life path of our school initiative. Attendance of this full session is essential for parents to make an informed choice for their child’s education at Bangalore Steiner School.
If you wish to actively pursue enrolment for the 2017-18 academic year, you are requested to ensure that BOTH parents attend the FULL session of one workshop and an Open Day. You may attend together or on separate days, based on your child-minding situation. Attendance of BOTH parents is a prerequisite for issuance of application forms as and when the process begins. PRIOR Registration is compulsory for attendance as we can only accommodate limited numbers.

Please note the below age criteria for Admission for Academic Year 2017-18:
- Prep Class** (Child 5 years before 1 Feb, 2017)
- Class 1 (Child 6 years before 1 Feb, 2017)
If your child is younger than our eligible age prescribed for Prep, we would highly recommend that you explore sending her/him to a Steiner-Waldorf kindergarten until she/he is ready for admission at our school. A child benefits immensely from being in a Steiner early childhood environment all along from the age of 3 years before coming into Steiner primary school. Please attend the workshop mentioned above to understand Steiner education philosophy better before you choose such a path for your child and family.
** What is a Steiner-Waldorf Prep Class?
A Prep class is the culminating 1 or 2 years (based on which month the child turns 6 years of age) of the Early Childhood Years in preparation for Class 1. The Prep program provides plenty of time for free play, the cornerstone of Steiner-Waldorf early childhood education. Since the child around the age of 5 also has capacity for a longer attention span and is able to work in a group better, a stronger experience of ‘willing’ activities like painting, knitting, sewing, circle time, 2nd & 3rd language exposure through songs, cooking, gardening and in an extended day 9am to 3pm, Mon - Fri. Post lunch nap/rest, storytime is part of the Prep day at school. There is NO writing and reading but learning happens in a myriad ways in preparation for Class 1 in Primary School.
