Admission Process

01.

Attendance by both parents for Open Day - conducted by the school.

As the first step towards our admission process, you are required to attend our Open Day session. It is mandatory for both parents to attend this session. Once we receive your request through the form link (at the bottom of this page), we will send you details of the Open Day session.

Understanding Steiner education philosophy at a reasonable level to determine if it resonates with you - is the first step in our Enrolment exploration process for parents. For a successful parent-school partnership in the years to come, it is important that parents have the enthusiasm and commitment to transform their own aspirations, lifestyle and parenting to support the journey of the child at the school. This Open Day session focuses on the philosophy, curriculum and more importantly on Parenting. It has been designed to answer the ‘Why’ of Steiner (Waldorf) education and the roles parents play in this journey with their child. We hope that this session will help you connect better with the philosophy of Steiner education through an understanding of the developmental stages of a child. This session will give you an opportunity to interact with the school staff and get their ideas and thoughts about the journey of parents in the school.

The teachers of the school will provide you an overview of Steiner's education. They inform you of our approach towards education and the child. You will also get a glimpse into how the Steiner-Waldorf curriculum is delivered in the classroom by teachers, a display of classroom work, a school tour, and an overview of the history, management, and life path of our school initiative.

Attendance of this full Session is essential for parents to make an informed choice for their child’s education at Bangalore Steiner School. It is applicable for high school aspirant parents as well to understand the philosophy behind Why we do What we do in high school as well.

Please note that children are strictly not allowed for this session (except if you are applying for our High School).

We charge a nominal fee per person for attending the entire Open Day. A simple vegetarian Lunch will be provided during the day at school. The bank details for the transfer will be provided once you register.

02.

Observation of a child in the school or individually as the situation may require

This is organized considering mutual convenience of parents and the school to bring the child for an assessment. During this observation, a basic assessment is done on the child’s learning levels and needs to be addressed. The observation period is one day for a child seeking admission into Kindergarten or Grade 1 and for all other classes, the observation period is one week.

Note:

  • This is required even if you are applying for high school Grade 9 (i.e., the applying student is currently in Grade 8).

  • However, this is optional if you are applying for high school Grade 11 and can be discussed with the school

03.

Application form for admission

This form is given out during the Open Day once you have decided to go forward with the admission process. There is a fee for the application form. This will be communicated to you after you have attended the Open Day session fully and wish to go forward with the admission.

04.

Student discussion (for Grade 11 applicants only)

This is done to assess the student on many dimensions like academics, behaviour, understanding of the subjects they want to opt for etc. It is also an opportunity for the student to understand the school.

05.

Parent interview

This is done to understand the commitment of parents towards the child's education and their willingness to be part of this journey. It is only after the parent interview that we would be able to assess and confirm admission for the child.
