A Day of Joy and Tradition: Krishna Janmashtami at Bangalore's Steiner School
The morning of 19th August, Bangalore Steiner School was filled with a special energy. The usual serene atmosphere of the school was transformed by a festive buzz. Children arrived in vibrant, colorful clothes and their faces bright with excitement. The beautiful buntings hung a day earlier were a clear sign: it was time to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami.

After morning lessons, the children excitedly began preparing for the festivities. The little ones from Class 4 gathered flowers from around the school to decorate Krishna’s cradle. Other students created intricate rangoli designs, while the older children from Class 11 helped put up the remaining buntings, adding to the festive look.
A Taste of Krishna's Mischief
The highlight of the day was the butter-churning activity. The moment the students saw the pot and churner ready to make butter, their curiosity took over. They eagerly took turns churning, their faces lighting up with delight. Afterwards, they gently swung Krishna's cradle, their joy and devotion clear to everyone.

What's a festival without a special feast? The day’s lunch was a delicious spread of Puliogare, Mosaranna, Payasa, and a tasty vegetable Pallya. After enjoying the meal, everyone gathered in front of Krishna's cradle for the day’s main program.
A Story of Devotion, Music, and Human Pyramids
The program began with three Class 12 students who took on the role of compères, speaking in Kannada, Hindi, and English. A teacher from Class 1 captivated the audience with a beautiful story about Krishna, her words filling the air with a sense of wonder.
The program continued with enchanting performances. The songs from students in Classes 1 to 4 charmed everyone with their innocence, while the Class 5 students delivered a captivating recitation in Hindi. The high school students’ singing filled the space with beautiful melodies. The Class 8 students also presented a special Bothmer performance, which was met with great applause.

A true showstopper was the human pyramids created by students from Classes 6 and 7. They climbed to the top, reaching the "pot" and showering everyone with a rain of flower petals, a playful nod to Krishna's antics.
The celebration ended on a peaceful note. Everyone chanted a shanti mantra, shared sweet laddus, and headed home with happy memories of a day filled with tradition, fun, and togetherness.
