Our Grade 11 Students were very fortunate to take a break from their Cambridge mathematics curriculum and instead experience a Waldorf "mini block" of High School Projective Geometry with our visiting mentor, Chris Bennett, a few weeks back.

Chris began in a fun and energetic way by having students draw almost perfect large ellipses on the classroom floor by simply utilizing rope and 2 other students as fixed points. The class then went on to construct these accurately on paper having understood the concept and the practical output.

As the block developed, Chris led them through many varieties of drawings of projected 2D and 3D shapes as various points and resulting lines were adjusted and eventually moved towards infinity away from the paper!. The students experienced this with their own drawings and the return of their own projections back again as the infinity projections returned once more and reappeared!

The students were deeply absorbed in classes achieving accuracy and beauty with the shading of their projections and were very thankful for this lovely experience and geometrical knowledge and skills gained.

I too am grateful; observing a different side to the students and having personally gained further understanding of this beautiful topic and wonderful classroom management by Chris.
