We recently celebrated our Grade 8 children completing their Grade school (1-8) as they will be getting into High school (9+) next and it is a big milestone.
It was a fantastic, enjoyable, and emotional event with children of Grade 8, all their parents and all their teachers.
Bangalore Steiner School has had several batches of children going through Grade 8 graduation earlier. This group is special because they are the first group to have had One “Class Teacher” for all the 8 years.
It is of very high value to the children while growing up, to have an unchanging Class Teacher for all the grades in Steiner’s education method. It is a very desirable goal, but extremely hard to do in today’s pressures, priorities & commitments for any teacher. We are extremely Thankful and Grateful to “Nidhi Jain” for her commitment, sacrifices and energies from 2018 till 2026 to bring this special experience to this group of children.

The day started with a very funny, entertaining, and thought-provoking play called “The Phantom Tollbooth” – based on a book by “Norton Juster”.
The play was entirely planned, props made, music provided by the grade 8 class.
The children had made a Hand designed pamphlet as well for the play which was given to everyone before the play started.
All the parents had embroidered their child’s name in patches and had put together a throw and gifted it to Nidhi for keeps

Nidhi along with the other teachers crafted with their hands a “Tree of life” which they gifted to all the children for keeps/ memories to signify this milestone year.
It signifies the roots they have planted through these educative years and the strings/ branches the relationships they have fostered through these years. These were given to the children with the hope and wish that the children just like these trees will grow and extend their fruit of knowledge, comfort and love to the others in the future.

The children also played a very melodious song for their Class Teacher.
Nidhi shared her experience with the children for the past 8 years and how they grew with her & she grew with them as well. It was very a very touching account.
Many of the teachers also shared their experience with the class and Nidhi as well.
Many of the parents as well shared their experience and how their anxieties were addressed by the Class Teacher allowing their child to blossom through the years into bright beautiful children they have turned out to be today.
The Children as well shared their words of gratitude to Nidhi and all the other teachers who have taught and shaped them all these years.
It was topped off with a cake cut by Nidhi made by one of the parents and everyone relished.

All in all, it was an emotional, beautiful, and fantastic celebration of Grade 8 graduation for everyone.
We wish a beautiful future from the depth of our hearts to all the children going ahead to high school – whether some may choose to move out of Bangalore Steiner School and many others will continue their journey into our high school.
Our heartfelt best wishes to Nidhi as well continuing with us, and sharing this wonderful education experience with other teachers and children.
