At the early part of every school year, we perform an "Oath ceremony" for the school in which everyone will take an oath to compete in fairness in the Sports week later in the year. This fairness is required from the year beginning even in the practice and preparations running up to the Sports week. Following is a brief of the event by our sports teacher.
It was a bright Wednesday morning, and excitement buzzed through the school corridors. The courtyard was decorated with house color flags and beautiful rangoli. Tables were set in front of the house color flags with the symbolics of the elements and The Badges, designed thoughtfully by the Grade 10 students, glimmered under the sunlight, waiting to be pinned onto the new house representatives.
The day was special - it was the Oath-Taking Ceremony for our new Captains, Vice-captains, Junior Representative and the House teachers. Students were gathered in their house color t-shirts representing 4 elements orderly Prithvi, Jala, Agni, Vayu. Teachers came in white colour as we represents Akash. Here it completes all 5 elements.
We started the day with games class prayer
समुद्रवसने देवि पर्वतस्तनमण्डले ।
विष्णुपत्नि नमस्तुभ्यं पादस्पर्शं क्षमस्वमे ॥
This was followed by introductory talk by Vikas Teacher reminding everyone of the honor and responsibility that came with the roles they were about to undertake. The sound of badges being pinned was a tangible moment of pride —each one a symbol of commitment and leadership. Then everyone moved to the special part of the ceremony, Pavan and Soumya teacher stepped forward and led the oath for the Captains, Vice-captains, junior Representatives and House teachers. Each one took the oath with the essence of their respective elements in their hearts, they swore to lead with honor, responsibility, and a desire to make a difference.
Prithvi - With the strength and steadiness of Earth
Jala - With the adaptability and fluidity of Water
Agni - With the passion and energy of Fire
Vayu - With the clarity and freedom of Air
Each oath was a promise —each one more than just a set of words. It was a pledge to their houses, to their school, and to themselves. As with all house representatives, their housemates also stood in affirmation. It was nice to see all are united.
It was not just a ceremony. It was a beginning of leadership, responsibility, and striving towards excellence. And as the day unfolded, the excitement that had buzzed through the school corridors earlier was now replaced with a quiet sense of pride and purpose.
