Grade 1 & 2 children had a nature walk on Tuesday this week. It was a walk up to the Temple up the hillock next to the school. Some work was going on next to the Temple and there was an empty Tractor there ready to leave (having just unloaded the stuff they had brought there).
Children this age typically see tractors in books and cartoons maybe. Seeing one up close got them interested - which gave an idea to the Teachers who had accompanied them.
A quick conversation with the Tractor owner/ driver and he gladly agreed to give us a ride from the Temple back to the school campus.
Imagine the excitement in the kids when they learnt they were going back in a Tractor then! After some discussion and instructions to the driver to drive very slowly, carefully, etc., etc., they were boarded 1 by 1 carefully into the tractor.
They absolutely loved the special and surprising experience during a school day. The fact that the ride was downhill and made it even more exciting for them. They were asking (almost pleading) with their teacher to cancel the school bus that day and send them home in the Tractor...
He dropped them inside the campus and the children thoroughly enjoyed the ride all through the way in. They were waiting to run afterwards and share their exciting experience with almost everyone else in school. Within 2-3 m every student in every class had already heard from them about their joy ride.
It was truly a wonderful experience for them & we are grateful to have been able to gift them this unplanned surprise this week...
